ADULT LEARN TO ROW
A unique sport for all ages

-
Are you over 18 years old?
-
Do you want to improve or develop your personal fitness & flexibility?
-
Are you prepared to rise to unexpected challenges?
-
Would you like to join a sporting community of like-minded individuals?
If your answer to these questions is ‘Yes’, then the wonderful sport of rowing may be just what you are looking for.
At Star Club, we offer a rolling Learn To Row Programme (L2R) which delivers comprehensive tuition in a variety of boat types for all new adult beginners. It is open ended and not restricted to a maximum number of sessions. L2R is geared totally to the progress of the individual.
The only requirement is that you are able to swim 100m in light clothing.

Once you have achieved an appropriate level of proficiency, you will move on to the Club’s Development Squad or other appropriate training squad for further development.
Nobody knows if they are going to enjoy rowing – or even be any good at it - until they have tried it.

JUNIOR LEARN TO ROW
Junior L2R training sessions are every Saturday Morning – 11:30am till 13:00pm.
We welcome beginners ages 12-16. The course will cover basic water and boat safety, boat-handling skills, basic sculling technique and further development of existing sculling skills for those who have already had a taster. The emphasis is on fun and participation. Whilst the majority of the course is spent on the water, there will also be some land-based fitness training for rowing included, along with basic ergo technique and flexibility. Our goal is to ensure participants have a fun and safe introduction to the exciting sport of rowing. Junior courses run every Saturday from 11:30-13:00 or 10-4 on weekdays during Easter and May half term, and the Summer holidays.
The juniors stay in our development squad until they are confident enough to single scull the length of the river, at which point they will be invited to join our competitive squads. The number of sessions required by a junior beginner differs by individual – everyone develops differently. The only requirement is that you are able to swim 100m in light clothing.
Star Club is affiliated to British Rowing and L2R is conducted within a safe, protected environment, following guidelines issued by British Rowing.
