Star Club is based at Poynter's boathouse (named after one of the club founders, Ted Poynter). The boathouse is situated on the River Great Ouse in the heart of Bedford. It benefits from its own floating landing stage and private car park. Boats are housed in three bays with easy access to the river. The club has an extensive bar and cafe as well as a gym/ergo room and male and female changing rooms.
The Club maintains a modern fleet of racing boats which are periodically replaced on a rolling basis. The fleet includes eights, coxed fours, coxless fours, quads, doubles, pairs and singles in a variety of weight categories giving club members a wide range of rowing and sculling options. In addition the club has training singles and an explorer 4 for teaching new members.
Star Club has recently invested in new gym equipment, thanks to the support of Ceetak, giving a range of machines and free weights. In addition the club has a large number of Concept 2 rowing machines and bikes for the members use. The gym can be accessed by members at any time though some sessions are reserved for specific squad training.
Star Club benefits from the independently run COFFEE AT STAR which provides top quality food and drinks for both club members and the public.
The venue can also be hired for private events with catering.
